I had a really fantastic week. The teachers and staff were really friendly and helpful.
The class was wonderful. The school is located in a central place in Bordeaux. Our host was only a short distance by tram to the school. I enjoyed our time with her and her lovely evening meals.
I had some initial confusion around the booking however when I contacted the school direct but when I contacted Language International the situation was resolved.
I have been to a week’s teaching in France, twice before so know the routine but I think if your are new to this way of learning or attending an International school you may be a little confused as the welcome / introduction was all in French and there was some time when we waited for classroom allocation, where you might be unsure what is happening.
We had a variety of teaching experiences, one going outside to talk with locals - I enjoyed this.
There were a couple of trips but sadly it was after I had left.
Overall it was a happy and welcoming school.
I loved meeting a variety of interesting and fun people from across the world.
Everything was wonderful, the course was successful, without any incidents. French course helped me a lot in my further studies in college
Voir les détails » Lire plus...The school was easy to find, and close to the bus and tram. The facilities were ok, but some of the rooms were a bit small for 14 students and from time to time, the IT failed. One area that all the students complained about was the lack of air conditioning in many of the classes. At times it was so hot, it was hard to think.
I had two different teachers while I was there, the first one was good, but the second was better! Good teachers generally.
The housing was very good . The Housewife was kindly and tried hard, but the house were fare of the school so that I could nothave part at the activities in the afternoon. The classes were to big, the members of lession were very kind. So were the teachers
Voir les détails » Lire plus...The class was good, the teachers tried their best to give the lessons. But I think we could not only do the language training, but also the writing exercise.
Voir les détails » Lire plus...I stayed with a very friendly and welcoming family who all (parents and 3 of their children) took there moments to chat with me in French. With Claire, my hostess, I enjoyed a very fine evening talking. For a week I was really a part of their family, their house was my home.
Monday morning at school was chaotic. I liked meeting all the people that worked at school. The establishment of my level was done in 3 minutes but the lesson started not until 10.30 - 11.00 o’clock. For me a dip in my energy. This was more than made up for by Valérie, un vrai Bordelaise, who gave a practical tour through the city Monday afternoon. I loved that.
My teacher in the morning was Marie: very well prepared, started immediately, clear explanations, attention for every member of the class, dynamic and also easy going, sense of humor. I liked going to her lessons and I learned a lot. In the afternoon I had 2 x lessons of someone who talked very much, repeated herself 3 or 4 times with other words which I found boring and therefor tiresome. Thursday and Friday afternoon I had lessons of ? She managed different levels in her class which she did very well; she give us all a private lesson going through our written ‘story’ and nobody was doing nothing; impressive. Class was difficult but also challenging and learning.
Overall: the teachers spoke well and understandable, the audiotive exercises were at ‘full French speed with lots of swallowing’. I did not become easier for me to understand after a week. Only after examining the spoken text.
The excursion to St.Emilion was nice but the wine-tasting (one white and one red wine) that was included was a bit disappointing. I had a great time also because at the very first day I made 3 friends and we talked in French ( good exercise) and had lots of fun.
I very much enjoyed my experience at France Langue. The teachers were excellent, inspirational, creative, confident, and intelligent and expected high achievement, while in return exhibiting a high standard of teaching excellence. The students and school atmosphere was friendly and supportive and students who came to the school were motivated, worked hard, and respected each other, their teachers and the school environment, keeping our school clean and free of disturbances such as cigarette fumes, interruptions in class, or undesired behavior. I was similarly incredibly happy with the city of Bordeaux. A city of elegance, history, beauty, wine and culture that is also friendly and supportive of learning in every way. From asking a Bordelais on the street for help, to discussing wines and cheeses with a shop owner, all of my encounters were positive and contributed to my learning experience. I feel Bordeaux is a place I could live and work in the future~! I definitely plan to study with France Langue again and visit the city of Bordeaux again in the future. I made lifelong friends and was again inspired by the joie de vivre of France!
Thank you for maintaining excellence in your school you are the top quality school I have been to so far and in my many years of being a student, I have been to many!
I very much enjoyed my intensive week at the school which realistically was nowhere enough time to learn a language but has given me enough encouragement to continue on with lessons at home. From the start I was pushed and found it difficult but the patience of the teachers was fantastic. I learnt a lot in the week, particularly as it also made me do a lot of homework. The class sizes were small (6-8) , the location excellent to town, a nice common room and free wifi all added to a great experience. The housing was also fantastic. I was lucky enough to stay with a lovely retired couple only 20-30mins by bus away from the school with always a nice glass of wine, lovely food and conversation every night. Bordeaux was also a star, particularly as I love wine and good food. I can only highly recommend the entire experience to one and all.

Voir les détails » Lire plus...The location of France Langue is at the center of the city, so that was good for me. My teacher was great, she was very good at explaining things and often noticed if someone cannot understand the lesson in class. I didn't participate in the activities or housing, so I cannot comment.
Some of the course details weren’t relevant to me, since I'm only in France for short term. But overall was a good starting point and I met some great people.
My experience was in the average. I had experienced other language schools and in this case the experience was average.
In my opinion the class are so crowded, there are too many students for one professor, and therefore the progress is slow.
The professors are okay, but the workshops are not so good.
Regarding the installations, the bathrooms are not good, as they are small for a lot people.
It was a small group, of every age, which was good for me. I feared to be the only 'old' student. The teacher, Coline, was excellent; stern but friendly, on top of things. Being a teacher myself, I think I can safely say I learned from her.
The classrooms were way too small. and somewhat dilapidated if I may say so. Would the opposite of 'state of the art' suffice to describe them? I think so. It was embarrassing to watch one of my fellow students, rather bigger than everyone else, try to push himself in between the table and the wall. Coline wanted to show some video a couple of times, she showed us her laptop. Obviously, not everyone could fully watch the clips she showed. An electronic whiteboard in all rooms would solve the problem.
I end by saying that I was on the whole very satisfied.
I really enjoyed the classes, professional teacher, nice location and organisation of cultural events.
It was a bit difficult for me to choose my level. I decided to start as a beginner but I have some knowledge from long, long ago. Actually I think I could have learned more in 2 weeks time but it was ok to start again.
The classrooms are cosy but when there are a lot of students they are sometimes a little bit small, especially when it is very warm outside.
Only "complaint": toilets can be better, but they were clean!
The class level was well-chosen and I feel I made progress in my two weeks at the school. The classrooms are tired and need repainting, dull and slightly dreary, teaching aids were basic. The teacher tried her best but with a full class most days (11/12) of mixed nationalities, it meant exercises took some time to get everyone involved. The subjects were well chosen and she tried to keep the lessons flowing.
The big plus was the social activities; they were well organized and Caroline was great at getting people signed up and involved - full marks!
I stayed in a private apartment in the center which I arranged myself. The organized housing was variable according to the other students, but you get what you pay for here!
I loved Bordeaux. It is a wonderful city. The "Fete le Vin" and the "Coupe du Monde" were on during my stay, so it made it even more enjoyable with music and fireworks over the river in the evenings.
My experience was excellent!! I really liked the school and the classes... I had very good teachers, and the people of the staff were very kind!! The school (BLS) was close to my residence, it was twenty minutes walking distance. The school had lots of activities beside the classes... Mostly tourism activities!! They were very organized!! My residence was also very good (City Residence Les Chartrons appart-hotel). The room was very comfortable and the location was fine, well it was twenty minutes from the city center. I really had a good time... I learned French and I met some friends!!
Voir les détails » Lire plus...The location was just perfect. The teachers were really committed and specials; they were really ready to understand our personal interests and were able, when possible, to tailor classes held. Social activities proposed were many, but I did not attend most of them. My host family really welcoming and we're still in contact!
Voir les détails » Lire plus...The school was perfectly located - right in the heart of Bordeaux. It was easily accessible, especially with the tram. They offered an activity everyday, so you could participate as much as you wanted to. The building was charming and cute, and the staff was incredibly friendly. There were students from all over the world, at all levels of French. The one negative thing that I have to say is that my teacher (although VERY nice) could get a little carried away with her stereotypes of Americans. It was funny for the first couple of days, as I thought that was just maybe her way of relating (I was the only American), but it did get a little old (ex: when describing a "fly" in French, she explained them as the bugs that all of our pesticides kill). I guess looking back it was kind of funny. My family stay was outstanding. Nadine was incredibly kind and patient and very encouraging. The experience certainly would not have been the same without the cozy, delicious dinners at her house with various dinner guests and great conversations to practice speaking and comprehension.
