I spent nearly two weeks at Mundo Antigua in private instruction classes. Both my instructors, Roy and Miguel were pleasant, knowledgeable, accommodating and well-prepared for classes.
Upon my request, my classes began with conversation than moved into more of a focus on grammar. I was given homework assignments that were always dealt with the following day.
The activities organized by the school (Friday afternoons) were fun and informative.
Overall, the staff were very welcoming.
I greatly appreciated the Homestay Program offered in conjunction with the school. It was a great experience to stay with a local family.
Mundo Antiguo Spanish School is an excellent place to learn Spanish. The teachers are professional, using a range of creative techniques to facilitate learning. All the staff are friendly, efficient and responsive. Through an initial assessment and process of comparison of relative skills in Spanish, they made a great effort to match people of similar levels, ensuring productive learning in classes.
Mundo Antiguo also provide excellent optional after-class activities to encourage further Spanish conversation and interaction with Cusco locals.
The location is great, close to the main plaza and many restaurants and bars. The facilities are adequate, although they could probably do with a third toilet given their numbers. Thanks Mundo Antiguo, we'd love to come again if we get the chance to return to Cusco.
All in all I liked everything. The location is very good, very close to the historic center so there is a lot to do and to see in the surroundings; this is accompanied by a very good level of teaching with very nice teachers that make the whole experience even better.
The activities organised out of the school are also very nice and it helps to learn more people from the school.
I was also very lucky with my host family that I really liked a lot; they took care of me, I had a nice house, Jackie was amazing and it was nice as well that the family was there a lot.
The teachers are friendly and very smart. I studied just for a week and had two extra activities in the school. With my teacher I went to a museum, while learned about the local culture also practice spanish.

They explained everything, were very friendly... we were happy about our Spanish course BUT there was no room in the school for us. So we had to go every day in a coffee shop (buying coffee) and it was noisy. We would have preferred to do the course in the school.

I was taught by three different teachers, and they were all kind and cheerful. It was good having different teachers whose approaches and styles of teaching were various, which did not make me bored. Although I attended the classes for only 3 weeks, I could largely improve the Spanish skills in many respects (speaking, reading, listening, writing).
Not only the quality of the classes the school also provides various kinds of fun activities such as trecking, dancing, sports, fruits tasting, etc. You can expose yourself to the Peruvian culture to the full extent by joining these.
The school is located in the center of Cusco, and it is very accessible. I was staying in the host family's house 20 min away from the school by bus. The bus service is operated all around the city with very short intervals so you will not have the inconvenience in terms of transportation.
In regard to housing, my host family was amazing. They treated me as if I were a member of the family. And I could enjoy the traditional Peruvian food every day, every meal.
It was one of the best travels I have ever experienced!
Thank you very much!!!
We had classes of 3 students so it was a very intense learning. The teachers could practise with each. We had two different teachers, one the first two hours and one the other half. One teacher was excellent, the other one was good too but couldn't speak english perfectly but we always managed to understand by explaning if one word was missing.
The people who worked there are very motivated and very friendly. They also offer a few activities every week.
And the school ist close to the Plaza de Armas.
I don´t need to say much because the school is great! I learnd a lot, i just wanna say thank´s a lot - muchas gracias!
And i hope we will see us again ;-)
Family:
Arrived in Cusco, my trip in Perú to improve my Spanish started. On Sunday I met my very nice family, my host mother Clorinda and her sons, where I lived for 4 weeks. After having little problems with the air in the altitude, Clorinda´s breakfast was the perfect start for my first school day on Monday. Her cooking skills were absolutely amazing to learn to know the typical peruan food and there were everyday breakfast / lunch / dinner!!
School:
The small, idyllic and sympathetic school Mundo Antiguo in the center of Cusco gave me a lot to learn in the 4 coming weeks.
Marie and Alberto were my two teachers for the next weeks. With a good kick-off we started our classes in the very good organized school. I had 4 hours classes per day with another person. So it was the perfect combination for me to practice the grammar and new words in 4 intensive school hours everyday and later to use them in the family or by dancing Salsa at nights. My Spanish improved a lot!!
City:
Cusco is located in the mountains. It is a place to be! With all those friendly people and this nice located city and its region around there are so many possibilities to see, to do and to experience. (Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, Secret Valley...)
All in all I would say that if I had more time and more money now, I would do it the same way I did it.
You don't do anything wrong if you are only staying in Cusco. But if you would stay in Cusco and you would learn Spanish in Mundo Antiguo, you make everything right! ;-)
Saludos de Alemania,
Dennis
I had a really fun time at Mundo Antiguo. The owners were really friendly and the group atmosphere among all the students and teachers was awesome. I loved the flexibility of my schedule, I could choose how many hours on which days, mornings or afternoons, and what kind of focus I wanted in my private classes. The office is right next to the Plaza de Armas and every Thursday there's a free activity at the school like cooking classes or salsa classes. I stayed at a host family not so far from the city center, in a nice and quiet neighborhood. It was a nice way to learn more about the Peruvian culture and still make friends from other countries. Right now I'm continuing my classes through Skype, so I would certainly recommend visiting the school to check it out.
